An innovative social news agency is looking for a VP of Product. They’ve been recently acquired by a media industry heavyweight, and building exceptional content products that delight audiences and deliver serious ROI to advertisers. To be the right Hired Gun for this gig, you’ll need a history of building products that push boundaries in the content and/or social media space. This is a high-visibility role within an industry-leading company, so only rock stars need apply.

Nitty Gritty
Storytelling is this company’s business. They’ve already redefined the concept of newsrooms (seriously), and now they need your product leadership to bring their content to a broader audience.To be specific, they are looking to build products for the ever growing world of branded content.

This means that they’ll be looking to you to demonstrate a thorough understanding of the advertisement ecosystem including ad serving, performance measurement, tracking, reporting and analytics.

As VP of Product, you’ll lead an amazing team to build products that solve real-world workflow challenges for brands as they develop and evolve newsroom experiences. . You’re going to be doing nothing short of revolutionizing how storytellers work with video content. You’ll also work with the rest of the Product Management team to ensure product features are implemented consistently across all of their technology platforms.

You’ll own the product roadmap for several very ambitious products, and you’ll have a top-notch product team at your back. You’ll lead a cross-functional Agile dev process that deliver quality products that address the needs of both users and advertisers.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a Product gig if you weren’t playing translator. Here, you’ll coordinate with Business and Engineering teams to translate business requirements into executable, well-defined functional requirements and specs. You’ll also work with the Marketing and Platform teams to position products in a way that appeals to advertisers and publishers.

It’ll also be up to you to track industry best practices and trends pertaining to ad servers, agencies, and demand- and supply-side platforms. You’ll do this through research and close collaboration with internal business teams, advertisers, publishers, and partners

You’re an adept strategist, but you’re not just a whiteboard quarterback. You’re the “roll up your sleeves” type, the sort who doesn’t shy away from wading into the details and can keep conflicting priorities on track. You earned your Product stripes in a digital media company specializing in ad serving products and platforms or perhaps on the publisher side working with these products.

You have a firm understanding of how users interact with digital content, and you know the KPIs that brands, media companies, and tech companies value. You inspire your team with big ideas, and you challenge them to reach for the next level.

You’re a skilled collaborator who is both strategic and detail-oriented. You’re at home in Agile/Scrum environments, and have a bias for rapid delivery and collaborative execution, and you know how to get both technical and business people to support a transparent product roadmap. You’re also skilled translator, a gift emerges when you’re working closely with technical leads to deliver the desired business needs.

You can also show us a solid background in business. Your current or previous role was a seat-at-the-table gig with a direct impact on product strategy and its adherence to overall business goals.
